First off, you can call me Jessie.

I’m a counselor and psychotherapist serving clients in Traverse City and Northern Michigan.

Being a human being is really hard work–and it also holds the potential for great fulfillment and meaning. Sometimes we just need a little help to find that meaning in the midst of the things that hurt. It’s my privilege to be a part of that work.

I view psychotherapy as a vocation and an art form. I am a geek about counseling and the practice of fostering human change through relational healing.

I’ve been practicing counseling and psychotherapy since 2020, spending three years in an agency setting before entering private practice in 2023. For the first three years of my career I specialized in serving individuals experiencing “co-occurring disorders,” which is a fancy way of saying I supported folks who experienced mental health and substance use concerns at that same time. In that capacity, I’ve had the privilege of working with, and learning from, individuals with a wide range of experiences including mental health, trauma, substance use, and relational concerns.

You can expect a whole lot of empathy in our work together. You can also expect a whole lot of honesty, humor, and hard conversations. If you’re expecting a sitcom-version of a cardigan-wearing therapist, you might be in for a surprise with me (though I do love a good cardigan). I can sit quietly for a very long time–and I’ll also come to you as a real person having a real conversation.

Therapy is about the conversation. I’m dedicated to being an expert at creating conversations for human change. Let’s talk and see whether I’m the best fit for your goals.
